| The rear firewall is topped off with a 22 gauge steel panel that will double as a bed cover mount. Its mounts are also the hinge mounts for the the decklid. |

| Using a steel hinge support with aluminum spars I put together a skeleton for the decklid. The hinges are light aircraft canopy hinges that over-center open and closed. |

| I still have to cut everything to shape and clean up the edges. It will be skinned like a normal car door. When using this type of hinge the big issue is torsional rigidity, because of the spring resistance built in to the hinges. I wanted to build it all from aluminum but it had way to much flex. Tying the hinges together with steel made all the difference. It runs all the way across the leading edge to keep the outside corners from trying to lift at speed. |
